He said more than nine million liters of fuel is being imported every day but it is not reaching the consumers on time.

Petroleum Standards Authority Director of the Petroleum and Energy Regulatory Authority, Lesa Mulu Tulu, said there was a problem with the delay in the delivery of fuel.

He warned that action could be taken against oil suppliers who do not refrain from creating such a problem.

He also told ABC that monitoring and control work is underway in collaboration with regional trade bureaus in order to ensure that the fuel is available to consumers on time.

He said there is a gap in the service of four and five stations, with only one serving and the other not being able to provide services.

He recalled that 15 petrol tankers in Afar State had been seized by the police, adding that the state would take the necessary legal action.

He said inspectors are being deployed in coordination with Oromia State to alleviate delays in transporting fuel from Awash.

He said there are 1,200 petrol stations nationwide.

He said it is common to see vehicles lined up at petrol stations in various cities, including Addis Ababa.
